Rockey’s 1970 FLH
This the first year for Harley’s Big Twin Alt. Motor or some would call the cone motor because the gear cover design, unlike early models that had a distributor separate, 1970-99 housed the points and later electronic ignition in the gear cover running off the end of the cam and the alternator for charging on the output shaft side of the motor in the primary and is still used to present .
This bike was a total restoration with lots of upgrades, the motor is sporting a S&S 86’’ Stroker kit with Dave Mackey ported heads 514 cam and a super E carb. The trans. was upgraded with Andrews close ratio gears and the primary housing a primo belt drive with a Pro Clutch. 18’’ spoke wheels give it a more modern look and the lowered effect while the police seat gives an old school touch. The custom paint was the one thing Rockey had before we got the bike , I guess it might have been what started the project rolling , buying a painted set of sheet metal and the rest of the bike being so 1970 anyhow this is only some of the custom work done as you can see.
